Do I need to fire my phone company?

Don’t worry. This question came only when the phone company isn’t working well when I needed it the most. There are times that I’m contemplating to use such “skype hype” technology out there because of the praises screamed from mountaintops about the efficiency of this service.

Talking about “skype hype” technology, have you heard about VoIP technology? VoIP is an acronym for Voice Over Internet Protocol or Voice Over Internet Provider. It provides its users with a wealth of benefits. I already have a computer, an internet connection and a headset. These are all I need to go with VoIP. The popular advantages of VoIP services powered by Phone Power sounds very convincing and I want to give it a try especially that VoIP services represent an excellent savings for my pocket, and the efficiency with which VoIP services operate are unmatched when compared to any other type of telephone services. I want to get in on this new technology while the price is still right. Only $14.95 (513.049 THB) per month with unlimited calling and this price is guaranteed for two years! I could have unlimited communications with whoever I want anywhere throughout the world. This would be great because it means I could call my parents and parents-in-law without worrying for the phone bills…he..he..Just imagine calling my family in Philippines with a rate of 20 THB per minute- it’s more expensive than calling my friends in Australia and America.

VoIP will be the new wave in telecommunications in the future, no doubt with that. I gotta check it with my husband first if we gonna secure voip service. We gonna look into VoIP, and if we agree maybe we’ll sign up for its cost-effective services and reap the benefits immediately…hopefully….

New Visas for my friends

I'm so grateful to God for the favor He bestowed upon my friends. In my previous posts, I mentioned about my prayer about my friends' visas and God answered that! Just this week, the two of them Y and F just came back from Penang, Malaysia and were granted three-month Non-Immigrant B visas! We're so thankful to God for their work, for their papers and for the provision. Glory and honors belong only to our God!

After three months, they will be allowed to extend their visa for a year here in our city. No need to go to Malaysia. It's a great blessing because nowadays a lot of Filipinos are coming over to work as English teachers and a lot of them are still waiting for job opportunities. They're just carrying tourist visa for only 15 days! My friends were already set free from "border hopping" every 2 weeks. Thank you, Lord!

I'm joining a Slogan Contest

I'm inspired to join another contest after Mr. G. gave me back my PR1 after I lost it last month when I moved to my new domain.

This time the contest is about slogan-making hosted by two gorgeous sisters of Rosilie: My Blog and Anything Under the Sun. It just started last May 20 and will end on June 20, 2009. All you need to do is you must have a unique slogan about blog or blogging. You could enhance it through any decent and unique graphics. Oh my, I think I don't have this skill but anyway here's my entry:

Photobucket

I chose this slogan because for me all the written ideas, experiences, opinions and stories in blogging is a deep sharing of one's self/life to unknown readers whom the writer believes can be blessed ...because the writer cares for them.

According to the hosts, the winning entries shall be used as blog shirt prints. Any sale made from these prints will entitle the winning entrant a 10% commission according to the Philippine Peso and US Dollar equivalents. This commission shall be paid through Paypal account of the winning entrant. Isn't this great?

If you have any cool ideas about what is blogging for you and could be used as a unique slogan, why not join the SLOGAN CONTEST and let everybody be benefited of your ideas. Head on to Anthing Under the Sun for more clarification of the Contest Mechanics.

The following are hosts of the contest:

Sister Rosilie's blogs:
Rosilie: My Blog
A Closet of Limitless for Limitless Adventure, Limitless Possibilities

Mommy Moments- Hyzyd's First Haircut

mommy moments

It's Hyzyd's first nanny, a Thai grandma who insisted us to cut Hyzyd's hair before he barely reached his 3 months . Her reasons, it causes Hyzyd's rashes (?) and so that Hyzyd will feel fresh. His curly, thick hair contributes to his "sweaty" condition.

This is Hyzyd before his haircut...His hair is not that "thick" as what Grandma Paa described.

The daddy as the skilled barber cut Hyzyd's hair while he's sleeping....

and VOILA!...here's our li'l boy with his new hair!

He's feeling refreshed indeed!

at seven months, he still have his hairstyle which he got from his first haircut...I wonder why it didn't grow thicker?....

Wanna share your kiddos first haircut? Head over to Mommy Moments and you'll see other moms sharing their children's first haircut experience.

What's keeping me busy?

I was not posting in my blog since Sunday because my baby is teething. This time, it's the teeth on the upper gum. He's having fever and slept late at night. After his fever disappeared rashes appeared. We visited his pediatrician last Tuesday and she said it's viral infection. She examined the baby and I was relieved when she confirmed everything is fine. She assured me that the rashes will disaapear after 2-3days. Thanks be to God that it is. He's back to his bubbly nature today.

Another thing that keeps me away from blogging is my project in Artscow-my 8 x 8 (24 pages) photobook. I started with our wedding photos. Next will be Hyzyd's milestones from 0-6 months. You can view it HERE and I would appreciate if you could give comments or suggestions to make the necessary changes of my designs before I make an order on Saturday.

By the way, if you are interested about what I created and wanted to do the same with your digital photos, you could comment here and leave me your email address so that I could refer you. Doing this will help me earn points and I could share some credit and discount coupons with you.

I want to thank Jes for introducing to me the ArtsCow and referring me to this site. I enjoy doing my photobook minus the deprivation from my sleeping hours...he..he...

To my friends, thank you for visiting me and for your comments. I'll visit you back this weekend.

I better go now. The bell is ringing.....Waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh.....

With bangs or without...

I'm planning to change my hairstyle. I've been wearing thing long hair for almost two years and I feel it's time to find my new look.

With my current hairstyle, I find it not suitable when I'm carrying my baby. He always pull it and also causes rashes on his face. At school, it's very hot with my hair just hanging loosely on my back with crowded children and congested office. That's why, I always wear my hair either in ponytail or in bun- a simple hairstyle for busy women.

I'm contemplating to change my look to this:

Could I go to school brimming with newly banged hair? Yeah, I could. Youthful and fresh, this is my favorite new look. I have first to determine if this hairstyle suits my face shape.

The Bob hairstyle is one of the most classic looks in fashion history. This hairstyle is for square, round, heart and oval face shape. The sexy bob hairstyle features long layers razored into a blunt bob. The face framing and bangs blend into the back layers for a continuous line and is flattering to many facial types in one length or another. It can be worn with or without shorter fringe, and many people who wish to shorten a long forehead prefer to have fringe.

I'm looking forward for my new look. I promise you'll be the first to know!

I can't help spreading the "Scrubs"!

I just finished chatting with a friend who's currently a student nurse in Mindanao. She asked me about some historical site here in Thailand which is not yet too popular so that she could report about it as part of their project in History and Literature. After suggesting some historical sites I found here in Songkhla, I informed her about the new online magazine I discovered which is very indispensable for her- the Scrubs Magazine (Nurse's Guide to Good Living). Unlike other clinical sites where ordinary people felt rather out-of-place because of confusing medical terminology when visiting these sites,Scrubs' site is quite the opposite. It's reader-friendly (caters both nurses and ordinary people), inspiring, uplifting, and timely yet original . You'll find topics or tips about de-stressing mind, health tips, fashion tips, beauty tips and secrets, work behavior, money matters, news and entertainment and even tackles about love issues! She visited and explored the sites and thank me for showing her one of the coolest nurse's sites she ever found!

I can't help telling my friends about this site because I learned a lot from it. One of the things that I become versed and had adapted in my lifestyle is about the Gratitude Walk. The author claimed that rest and regrouping is essential to balance our life and to take charge of our unique stress as a health professional. Part of her own regimen is the gratitude walk- walking while expressing gratitudes in life. I started doing it last week. After coming back at home after class at 4:00 pm, I took a walk with my baby around our neighborhood. Same with the author,I started with the basics like gratitude for being able to walk, talk, use my hands, and being with my family. I acknowledge my fortune that God has allowed me to wake up that morning, the gift of another day, the air I breathe. My thoughts turn to the people in my life and opportunities to learn and grow. I feel tremendous gratitude to have a job in a profession I love.I am amazed every day how much lighter and more empowered I feel by this simple, quick regimen.

Try visiting this site and share to me what tips you find very helpful. See it for yourself!

Her and History was sited and blogged!

See?...he..he..I told you...This blog was sited by Chris of Mommy Journey and was chosen to be featured to as one of her loyal commenters to 5 Minutes for Mom weekly every Friday! It really pays to give our comments, right?

Head on to Mommy Journey and give her some love. Who knows, you'll be the next to be featured!

Thank you so much Chris for appreciating my comments.

I'm "Scrub-ing" today!

As I've mentioned before, I spend part of my leisure time reading health-related articles online. One of the online magazines that perks my interest is the Scrubs magazine. It's actually a Nurse's guide to good living but what I like about is the fact that it's not purely a clinical site. Though I'm not a nurse, I could relate with the career advice it offers and apply in my own situation as a teacher the beauty and fashion tips as well as lots of ideas on making my downtime as relaxing as my work life is demanding.

I remembered my classmate in high school before who ended up being a nurse instead of becoming a teacher (she finished Associate in Secondary Education before deciding to finish her current course) commented that teachers could be great nurses as well as nurses could be great teachers. Her reason for this is that these two careers shared the commitment to work, the courage and compassion they show (the teacher to their students and nurses to their patients) , often against all odds as well as against comfort and convenient hours! Would you agree with her? Nowadays, she enjoys the challenges she faces of this noble career that she chose and I think she deserves a Scrubby Award!

Furthermore, this site features great tips that seasoned nurses give to the new ones on the floor. I also benefited from it as it answers my burning question regarding How to Deal with Bickering and Backstabbing in the Workplace? The best thing to do is to stay busy and try to avoid controversy. I've been doing this for almost eight years and it's very effective! So far, I'm in peace with my co-workers and they trusted me because they know I really stay away from the "gossip machine". They observed that if the gossip starts to fly and I'm in the middle, I don’t engage. I would either excuse myself or change the subject.

This is what I've been doing today, "Scrub-ing". I enjoy it. New knowledge, New Power!

So much to tell, so limited time...

I'm juggling my time nowadays. I have so much to tell you about my first week in class but I have limited time typing it all so I just draft it first. I gotta rest now for I gonna have class from 8:20-11:10, resume at 1:40-3:30 pm having 5 classes per day at 50 minutes per session. I need your support in prayers. I need God's wisdom on how to teach English to 3 years old learners who haven't heard English yet in their entire life! You may not believe me, but it's true! Hu...hu..hu...I had my first class for 3 years old this afternoon for a "try-out" and they're looking at me like saying "who's this fool mumbling "something" we don't understand!"...Waaaaahhhh...I'm like teaching statues...mutes and deafs...I'm like a gong in the middle of the desert...Waaaahhhh....Oh, help me God! When, I say goodbye to them, it's just the time I heard them respond in unison..Bye-bye!..Maybe, they really wanted me to get out from their sight!..Waaaaahhhh....

On the other hand, my 4-year-old learners are quite good and they really makes me feel like a real hero, a real teacher. They're cooperative and responsive. I can't go out from the room without hugs and kisses from them...so cute..This is the reason why I should be fresh tomorrow!

I have to claim Philippians 4:13 "I am able to do all things through him who gives me strength."

Thanks for the visits and inspiring messages and comments. I'll visit you later. Stay tuned (he..he..he..) for I have so much to tell you!

Mommy Moments-Grandparents Bonding!

mommy moments

My parents flew from Philippines to Hatyai 2 weeks before my due date. They're so excited to welcome their first-born grandson! They stayed here with us for almost two months and we really had a great time!

This is the first time my Mom saw her grandson. Hyzyd is going to call her "Mama Genei" instead of "Lola" (our vernacular for grandma)...he..he..

Mama Genei is there for his grandson's first feeding...(yeah, too bad...he's not taking my breast)

Hyzyd is having nice time with his "Papa Ben"

Family time at Pizza Hut

Hopefully, next year Hyzyd could visit his grandparents of his daddy's side.

More grannies bonding with their grandchildren can be found in Mommy Moments!

God inspires me!

Life of a working mom can sometimes be humdrum and wears me down but I thank God that he INSPIRES me! So, instead of complaining, God teaches me to put a smile in my face and a spring in my step. He deserves to be praised for opening my eyes eyes to see how BLESSED I am when I listened to HIM to change my attitude and approach in life! I should be the most enthusiastic person in the world because not only have I got a great future, I have "abundant life" through HIM now!

Taken

...yeah, it's obvious that I'm "Taken"..LOL! but what I want to let you know is that I've seen the best and the most movie so far ! I couldn't let go of its jaw-dropping action sequences.

It's a story about a former spy that relies on his old skills to save his estranged daughter, who has been forced into the sex-slave trade. I assure you, I like the ending and the daughter wasn't "touched". The actor of this movie, Liam Neeson, isn't that famous like the actors in James Bond and Jason Bourne but the taste of his handywork around ten minutes of the thriller impressed me much. My mom watched this and she didn't get sleepy and 93 minutes passed swiftly without noticing it. My bro who appreciates action movie once in a blue moon couldn't help applausing after the film...LOL! Neeson was great, and I can't wait to see the movie many more times. It's worth the money to see this in the big screen. One commenter said, "Neeson is the vodka of James Bond's martini". I agree with him.

I couldn't forget this scenario when Neeson was talking on the phone after his daughter was kidnapped , he said "I don't know who you are, but if you don't let my daughter go, I will find you, I will kill you (in a composed voice)" and then the kidnapper replied "Good luck". He recorded this conversation and HE INDEED FIND THIS MAN!

Have you seen this movie? Better watch it for yourself and tell me what you think. Happy viewing:D

An Issue of inverted nipple and of nipple shield

No matter how many kinds of infant formula are available in the market nowadays, still breast milk is best for babies. As new parents, we want to give our babies the very best. Breastfeeding is the best bet for babies.

More than two decades of research have established that breast milk is perfectly suited to nourish infants and protect them from illness. Breast-fed infants have lower rates of hospital admissions, ear infections, diarrhea, rashes, allergies, and other medical problems than bottle-fed babies.

Yes, I agree with this. I for one wanted my baby to be breastfed until 12 months but I have an issue with inverted nipple! My baby was only breastfed for three weeks with much struggle on his part! I strive for that lofty goal of breastfeeding but I fall short even I did what my friends, nurse and doctor asked me to do the following:

1. "Make" a nipple. Use the "breast-sandwich" technique to get more breast tissue into baby's mouth. Hold your breast well back on the areola, with your fingers underneath and thumb on top. Press in with thumb and fingers while at the same time pushing back toward your chest wall. This elongates and narrows the areola, which enables baby to latch on more easily.

2. Use a breast pump to draw out your nipples before feedings.

3. Following the "Latch-On" Basic Positions.

It’s too late for me when I found in TESCO LOTUS' baby’s section a display of nipple shield for mothers who have problems with inverted nipples. I didn’t have any idea of this before. If I knew about this, maybe now I’m breastfeeding Hyzyd.

this is a sample image of a nipple shield

A nipple shield is made of thin, flexible silicone and is used to cover a mother's nipple and areola while the baby is nursing. The baby sucks on the nipple shield rather than directly on the breast.
A nipple shield can be used to protect a sore nipple during feedings. A nipple shield may also be used when a baby is having difficulty latching on to a flat or inverted nipple.

But take note of the two problems associated with nipple shields.
First, with a shield in place the breast does not receive the same kind of stimulation that it does when a baby sucks directly on the breast. This leads to a reduction in milk supply. Second, baby learns to latch on to the nipple shield, rather than to the breast. Weaning from the shield can be difficult.

If you are considering using a nipple shield, get help from a lactation consultant, so that you can work on resolving the problem that has made it necessary to nurse with a nipple shield.

Finally, should I feel guilty of not breastfeeding my baby? For me, I am not because I am a woman who wanted to breastfeed, who tried, but was unable to breastfeed. Who knows I will be successful next time.

Shortybear’s Place

Wanna be a certified ethical hacker?

I just finished watching Die Hard 4- Live Free or Die Hard. In here, Bruce Willis returns as NYPD Detective John McClane, one of the toughest cops on the force and a guy you always want on your side when things get dicey. In this fil, you'll find McClane off to collect computer hacker Matt Farrell (Long) who unknowingly involved himself in a cyber terrorist plot to disrupt the United States' infrastructure. Farrell's reluctantly pulled into McClane's pursuit of the mastermind behind the crippling cyber attack. The old school detective and the computer savvy geek are all that's stopping Tom Gabriel (Olyphant) from getting away with billions.

In the movie, Farrel's being a computer hacker brings peril into his life but don't you know that in real-life companies are looking for Certified Ethical Hacker-a skilled professional who understands and knows how to look for the weaknesses and vulnerabilities in target systems and uses the same knowledge and tools as a malicious hacker to tighten their IT Security and defend their network from hackers? Isn't this cool?

Don't give me that suspicious look...*wide grin*...What I'm telling you is the truth. Now, you're going to ask me " How would I become a Certified Ethical Hacker?" Is there some sort of a training institution that will certify me as one?"

The International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants or EC-Council| iClass Platform is the EC-Council's the official training division for this. All courses are delivered online using an advanced web conferencing / communication platform. All Classes are taught by Certified EC-Council Instructors providing an experience as close to the physical classroom as possible.

They offer the following categories:

-Security Fundamentals
-Ethical Hacking
-Penetration Testing
-Computer Forensics

-Disaster Recovery
-Secure Programming

You could just select your area of interest and join EC-Council for their next available iClass to discover all the benefits of EC Council certification without the added expense of travel.

For me, I'd like to join EC Council for the fact that hundreds of IT Professionals have already joined. They claimed that it's been a great experience for them to attend this outstanding and informative web cast for their teaching methodology was exceptional plus they are offering FREE, One day, First LOOK! IT Security Events! Who could ask for more?

Maybe you'll have a follow-up question that may state like this:"Ok, I'll take the course, be a Certified Hacker and then what?" Before I'll answer this let me first emphasize CERTIFIED ETHICAL HACKER, people please let us not forget the word "ethical".The goal of the ethical hacker is to help the organization take preemptive measures against malicious attacks by attacking the system himself; all the while staying within legal limits. This philosophy stems from the proven practice of trying to catch a thief, by thinking like a thief. As technology advances and organization depend on technology increasingly, information assets have evolved into critical components of survival.

Now let's answer the question. Don't you know that being a certified ethical hacker ranks number 2 of the 6 unusual highest-paying careers? The top 50 percent of computer scientists earned between $97,970 and $123,900 in 2007. Whew! That's a large lump of money!

Maybe, you're now jumping on your seats and start thumping on your computers to ask more from me, I suggest you'll visit EC-Council for clarifications and questions.
