While scanning the cable channels last night I was shocked to heard the news that the government announced last Sunday afternoon that Bangkok and some districts in satellite provinces are in STATE OF EMERGENCY!
I saw crowd of people wearing red shirt batting cars and beating people! According to what I understood, Thailand's government declared a state of emergency in Bangkok after arresting a leader of protests that forced the cancellation of a key Asian summit the day before. Prime Minister Abhisit said the government took the decision because the problems threatening stability were escalating.
"The government has to declare the state emergency to restore normality as soon as possible," Abhisit said.
These protesters were carrying posts with signs like "Abhisit, Get Out!..so much chaos over there...*sigh*...Just this afternoon, the protesters were getting wild and so violent that they were throwing tear gas and bombs to the soldiers.
I just hope and pray that the government would do its best to avoid any loss to the people's life especially now that the PM Abhisit already declared that the chief enforcer of the state of emergency would have power to order arrests, searches of places as well as demolitions of any structure for the sake of law and order.
Supposed to be today, they're going to enjoy the Songkhran Festival, the traditional Thai New Year. It's so sad that they missed it. Here in South, the festival is successfully celebrated and I thank God for the peace and order here in the city.

I will be praying.
