I'm "Scrub-ing" today!

As I've mentioned before, I spend part of my leisure time reading health-related articles online. One of the online magazines that perks my interest is the Scrubs magazine. It's actually a Nurse's guide to good living but what I like about is the fact that it's not purely a clinical site. Though I'm not a nurse, I could relate with the career advice it offers and apply in my own situation as a teacher the beauty and fashion tips as well as lots of ideas on making my downtime as relaxing as my work life is demanding.

I remembered my classmate in high school before who ended up being a nurse instead of becoming a teacher (she finished Associate in Secondary Education before deciding to finish her current course) commented that teachers could be great nurses as well as nurses could be great teachers. Her reason for this is that these two careers shared the commitment to work, the courage and compassion they show (the teacher to their students and nurses to their patients) , often against all odds as well as against comfort and convenient hours! Would you agree with her? Nowadays, she enjoys the challenges she faces of this noble career that she chose and I think she deserves a Scrubby Award!

Furthermore, this site features great tips that seasoned nurses give to the new ones on the floor. I also benefited from it as it answers my burning question regarding How to Deal with Bickering and Backstabbing in the Workplace? The best thing to do is to stay busy and try to avoid controversy. I've been doing this for almost eight years and it's very effective! So far, I'm in peace with my co-workers and they trusted me because they know I really stay away from the "gossip machine". They observed that if the gossip starts to fly and I'm in the middle, I don’t engage. I would either excuse myself or change the subject.

This is what I've been doing today, "Scrub-ing". I enjoy it. New knowledge, New Power!
