Mommy Moments-Doctor, Doctor Am I sick?

mommy moments

By God's grace, I haven't visited our pediatrician of the reason that my baby is sick. We just have "doctor moments" for vaccination schedules.

I wonder why there are so many vaccines recommended for babies? I personally doesn't enjoy seeing my baby cries when he's given vaccination shots. Such a pitiful sight that melts my heart but I know that vaccines are designed to provide protection against serious diseases and many people consider them the most important part of well-baby checkups. Some of those diseases (such as polio and diphtheria) were much more common a hundred years ago, but are rarely seen now , thanks to immunization programs.

Like today, it's Hyzyd's 5th visit to his pediatrician. Before we left the house I must be sure that his diary (issued by the hospital) must be brought. It listed his personal data, growth, vaccination schedules and other important topics to be considered by the mother (unfortunately, they don't have English version for this..he..he..). I should see to it that we carry his VIP card to avail discounts...*wink*...

The Child Diary

I was caught off-guard when baby cried so hard when I put him down to be weighed. He's scared of the nurses that surrounded him! It took awhile before he calmed down and be weighed again.

Sshhh..shhhh baby..mommy's here...

It's good that his dad is with us...they had a heart-to-heart talk...Oh! Look at his swelling eyes...

We played and watched movie while waiting for our time.

This was taken inside the doctor's office.Unfortunately, my hubby haven't included our doctor's presence here. I was even planning to brag (just kidding..he..he..) to you guyz what a pretty pediatrician we've got! She's like a Korean actress..Anyway, her name is Patcharee..

I am glad that the doctor said that he's healthy and is ready for his vaccination. He's injected with DPT, OPV/IPV, HBV and Hib. All doses were given to him in just one shot. He's feeling not well tonight and has low-grade fever. I'm glad that he's asleep at last. Tomorrow, I will go to school but was glad that his dad will report to school by May 6 so I'm confident to leave him for awhile in his dad's hand rather than with the nanny.

Head on to Mommy Moments Center to read other testimonies of the entrants or if you want to join us.

Thankful Thursday-Courage

Courage must be grounded in the strength of the Lord.

"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6, NKJV

The verse is always my favorite verse that I recite and claim every time I face situations that challenge my courage. I claim it every time I was sent by my school to compete for district, division, regional and national test when I'm in grade school. I claim it when I'm joining extemporaneous speech, declamation, and oration when I'm in high school. I claim it when I'm in college and brainstorming with other National Super Quiz bee contenders. I claim it when it's my first time to travel alone in this foreign land, teach in a Buddhist school, witness to my students and co-teachers, got married and become a mom. I claim it every now and then and it makes me courageous to face every form of trials, problems and challenges for I know that God is with me wherever I go.

This week, I'm confident to thank God specifically for the following:

1. Neo Brand Laptops. Yes, God gave laptops not only a laptop ...Yesterday, I sent an SMS message to my father and mentioned about the approaching birthday of my sis. He said that her birthday present is a laptop! Wow, I'm amazed of how God provided the laptop to my sis as well as to my bro who both are graduating hopefully this October in their respective courses. We reminisced our times before that purchasing a laptop is hard to come by but now I'm glad that God provided their need as easy as buying softdrinks..he..he...

2. I'm done with the K-1 and K-2 workbooks! yeheeyyyy...Thank you, Lord! I'm ready for school's opening next week.

the workbooks that are due for approval and reproduction

3. This month is almost finished and I'm thankful of how God takes care of us for the whole month! I'm alive today, alert and enthusiastic!

God promises encouragement when I need it.
"When I pray, You answer me, and encourage me by giving me the strength I need." Psalm 138:3, TLB

You'll be blessed of how awesome is our God by visiting Laurie's place.

Free Hotel Rooms in Pattaya: The Update

This is an update of my recent post about free hotel rooms in Pattaya. You may be asking which hotels are offering free rooms? Is this true or is it confirmed?

As I cited before, it's still a plan and there's still no confirmation about this promotion. It's one of the Tourism operators scheme to woo visitors with free rooms. Chatchawal Supachayanont, president of the Eastern Chapter of the Thai Hotels Association (THA) said that Pattaya's hotels had about 20,000 rooms and that all operators would join the promotion.

With the upcoming so-called promotion , there's a lot of reaction out there like the following:

1. "Don't expect that the regular hotels will tell you next month that their rate is even 5 % lower than last month.Rather expect an increase in room rate as the tourist numbers go down. The usual thai business logic."

2. "I think this could prejudice those tourists who have booked and paid in advance. Surely these guests are those that the hotels wish to secure, the return market is the key to success."

3. "It would not be surprise me if the brilliant promotion is valid for Thai nationals only."

4. "Go online now and check the prices of your favorite hotels - print them off. Come back in a few weeks and check if there really has been a real reduction."

5. If they charge nothing, how will they pay staff (guests will have to pay tips and the hotel will charge the room staff to work at the hotel), electricity (maybe, they will introduce meters in the rooms), the "free" included breakfast will be charged for.Another technique would to say stay 5 nights pay for 3 or 4 - they can then say they are offering free rooms but still getting some money!"

This is an email I found on the THA website........

Quiet Time

Amidst the hectic schedules we have each day, it's nice to spend some quiet time with God. For me, I set reasonable goals for my quiet time. At first I start small, like 10 minutes a day. There were times that I miss a day!...I felt so guilty...so discouraged....but God says why should I be discouraged, he's not keeping score on a chalkboard! He loves me and wants me to walk with him in friendship. I feel that although I can talk with God anywhere, at anytime, it is still important to have a regular time alone with HIM. Ten minutes everyday is much better than an hour once a week.

Here are some ideas on how I spent my Quiet Time each day:

1. Reading God's Word. When I read the Bible, God speaks to me through it and I learn more about His character and what He's doing in my life.

2. Quiet my heart before Him. I spend time alone thinking about some of the characteristics of God: mercy, love, holiness, power, justice, and wisdom to name a few.

3. Talking to God. Do you know that God loves to hear our voice? I can talk to him about anything! I can tell him my desires, fears or worries. I pray for my friends, family, missionaries, nations or anyone God brings to my mind.

4. Thanking Him for His care for me. I believe that all good things come from God. I always tell him thanks! Even in hard times, I thank God for meeting my needs.

5. Listening to God's voice. I sit quietly and let Him speak to me in my heart. It takes time and practice to get to know God's voice. I always remind myself that God will never tell me anything that does not agree with His written Word, the Bible.

Free Hotel Rooms in Pattaya!

Yeah ...this is the plan of Tourism operators in Pattaya. They're going to offer free hotel rooms from May 1 to October 31! Wow!!!! This is so cooollll!!! They're doing this to attract local and international tourists during the low season.

You maybe asking..."Where the heck is Pattaya?"...Pattaya is 147 kilometers in the southeast of Bangkok. It claims to be the Asia's authentic international beach resort that appeals families, couples and even a single visitor all around the globe. The relaxing, tropical ambience is synonymous with every ingredient for memorable holidays. Tourists flocked here for it's luxurious accomodation (hotels and guesthouses), sporting opportunities both on land and water, amusement parks, offbeat museums and lush botanical gardens. Last March, Pattaya hosted the International Music Festival 2009.

Getting back to the free rooms....they said that apart from hotels, restaurants and shopping malls will also join the campaign, offering discounts up to 50%....*wide eye*...!

The seaside resort city is facing difficult times because of the global economic recession and local political problems, said Chatchawal Supachayanont, president of the Eastern Chapter of the Thai Hotels Association (THA). With this campaign, they hope that tourists and meeting, incentive, convention and exhibition (Mice) activities will be lured back to Pattaya again and tourism sentiment will improve as well.

Operators in Pattaya hope that when Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva goes abroad he will be able to explain the problems in Thailand and how the government intends to solve them, in order to restore confidence among visitors.

So, if you have time, come and visit Pattaya and enjoy their free rooms and discounted prices! Struck while the iron is hot, as the saying goes....

Healthy Homemade Baby Meals

This April as I stay at home and really taking care of my baby for the whole day, I decided to make healthy homemade meals for my baby instead of just depending on cerelac and gerber as his only source of solid food. It's not hard to introduce veggies and fruits for him for he's already eating 2-3 tablespoons of single-grain cereal a couple of times a day since I started him feeding baby solid food since he's four months. I think that if I make my own baby food, I know what's in it, I can tailor the texture to my baby's preferences and I can shape my baby's taste and help him learn what fresh foods taste like.

You can see a sample of my meal plan for this week at Hyzyd's Diary. So far, his favorite meal is the apple and mango.

Apples are good source of soluble fiber, which helps with bowel function and may lower cholesterol levels. Mangoes help the body maintain bowel regularity and fight infection.

The preparation is very easy. For the apples:

4 cups chopped peeled apples (about 4)
1/2 cup water

1. In a medium saucepan, over medium-low heat, bring apples and water to simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, until apples are very tender, about 20 minutes.

2. Transfer apples to blender and puree on high speed until smooth.

Mangoes:

3 cups chopped peeled mangoes (about 2 large)
1/4 cup water

1. Place mangoes and water in blender and puree on high speed until smooth.

You see, it's just very easy...so yummy and delicious for your baby. I will continue preparing my baby's meal even I'll go back to work to ensure that he's eating healthy meal.

Swine Flu in Thailand!?!

As we all know a swine flu outbreak is now spreading in Mexico and threatening to turn into pandemic. The Public Health Ministry ordered an emergency watch. Is there a high alert for swine flu here in this country?

Whew, I'm relieved...Recently the ministry announced that there's no need to panic for the dangerous strain of virus is not found in Thailand! Public Health Minister Witthaya Kaewparadai urged people to stay calm, saying the H1N1 viral breed which had caused the disease in Mexico had never been reported here. However, under regular procedures, medical assistance was on standby and would be provided to any sick foreign visitor, but those with apparent flu would be on the A list for treatment, upon request.

Swine flu can attack both wild hogs and farm pigs, or other types of swine, he said, adding that the H1N1, H1N2 and H3N2 strains possibly found in Thailand could not be transferred to humans.

I'm so glad for this good news. It's a wake up call for us Christians to always be on alert and pray unceasingly.

The "Queen" in me

I never thought that I could be a queen...*wide grin*...but this morning, I was just awarded with a "Certified Queen of Blogs" award. I don't know what my newest friend Meryl sees in me that she chose me to have this award. Thank you friend. I'm truly honored! She's one of my friends who sees the "Queen" in me...he..he...

Now, I wanna share this award to Phebie. Why? Because she's the first blogger I met in blogosphere and became a sis. It's the thumbnail of her newly manicured nails in one of the blog lists that draws my attention to visit her blog...he..he...such a cute way of knowing someone. Anyway, at that time, I just I missed having beautiful and neat manicure because in here, I'm not satisfied with their service so I'm just contented with a clean and trimmed nails.

To all my friends in my bloglist, you are free to grab this award for you're all CERTIFIED QUEEN OF BLOGS in your own unique ways. You wouldn't be in my bloglist if you haven't inspired me.

Thank you
Meryl

God is Online

Today, we didn't go to the church where we usually fellowship. Instead, we went to the church where I used to attend the first year I arrived in Thailand. I just wanted to meet the few friends I have in there. It would be also be the first time of my hubby to visit this church. I told him that we could understand the sermon because there's a New Zealand guy who married a Thai who do the interpretation while we're on headphones. Unfortunately, he's not there and no one interpreted for us! Just imagine my disappointment!

Anyway, if I wanted to listen sermons in English and worship God, I logged on to Church Online. I love hearing God's word and truth in it and you could feel God's anointing upon the speaker. I could join the live Praise and Worship and they provided subtitles in case you don't know the lyrics. I thank God for this wonderful internet worship experience.Truly, God is everywhere!

Eat all you can!

It's my 28th birthday and I'm so grateful of what God has been doing in my life for the past years. Today, because of him I'm alive, alert and enthusiastic..Yeheeeeyyyy!!!

My friends are asking me what's my plan for my birthday...plan???...I do have lots of plans to make this day a memorable one...Shall we go to pizza hut and have buy 1 take 1 Italian Meat Clasicana Pizza - a delicious combination of All-Natural Aged Pepperoni, Natural Italian Sausage and Fire-Roasted Red Peppers?...to Sizzler with its great steak, seafood and salad or just cook in the house?...No matter how much I want to bring them to these "delicious" site, my tight budget won't budge...he..he...

Anyway, I just tell them I'll have a birthday party postponed on the birth date of my hubby..."but it's still on June", they commented..."But I'm serious with this proposal...I'm so sorry guyz"...that's all I can reply but deep inside my heart I'm praying on what should I do to enjoy my special day with my family and close friends.

Early in the morning, my family and friends greeted me, gave me birthday cards and declare blessings and prayers for me. I felt so blessed!

What surprises me is that they're going to treat me...Where???? Follow us where we going:

While on the way ( we just walked guyz)...my bro took some shots...Cheeze....

Where are we heading? Here in "Remroa Muu-kata"...It's an eat-all-you-can steamboat restaurant! These are my generous friends who are willing to be used by God to bless me. God bless them, I pray....

Now, check out the food we get- squid, fish ball, salmon fish, meat (pork and chicken) with or without seasoning, Thai dishes, Thai noodles, veggie salad and CHILI salad!!! Name it and they have it!!! Wow...is my tummy ready? Let's find out....

We surely enjoy cooking our food on the steamboat! Have you tried this? It's fun and just be sure you know how to use the chopsticks or else you'll get your hands numbed afterwards...LOL!

We surely enjoy our food...Sky is the limit!

Thank you my dearest friends, you surely made me happy. Eventhough you're also in tight budget but you still give sacrificially just to celebrate my birthday. I believe that this good deed you showed to me will not remain unseen by our Heavenly Father. You'll surely reap the harvest. I love you friends. "Friends love at all times"....

Head on to Yummy Sunday for more mouth-watering dishes or click on the badge below.

Thank you Meryl
